role in a company or an organization that ensures harnessing of employees
output to achieve the employers’ strategic objectives (Sarah, 2010) . It is, therefore,
the department that handles the management of people within the organization
focusing primarily on the policies and systems. It is a prudent and inclusive
means of managing people at the workplace while maintaining the environment and
the culture. A successful human resource management empowers the staff to participate
effectively and productively in the overall company’s goals and objectives.
Human resource management forms an integral
part of the company, and it primarily focuses on planning, staffing, employee
development and employee maintenance (Sarah, 2010) . All these
responsibilities are regarding how valuable the human power can contribute to
the growth of the company and achievement of its set out goals.
Planning
In planning the human resource
management ensures that the company gets the required number of employees to
accomplish its duties and meet its objectives. The department is responsible for
ensuring that the company does not recruit excess employees who can prove to be
less important for the company. By
conducting a thorough research, the department can plan appropriately for the
future human resource supplies for the company.
Staffing
Staffing entails the process of
recruitment and selection of the human resource for the company. After
conducting proper planning, the personnel takes the responsibility of selection
of people to fill up the positions given out. In the recruitment, only the most
qualified applicants are picked for the positions out of the ones attracted to
the organization. To ensure that the managers pick the best out of the
applicants, the human resource functionaries develops and administer a guiding
method.
Employee development
Employee
development ensures that they gain the skills and knowledge required to undertake
their responsibilities effectively. It begins with the orientation that the new
employee is taken through to acquaint himself with the new job and the employer.
Besides providing training to the new or inexperienced employees, the
organization often provides the experienced employees with training to catch up
with the requirement of the market. Some companies enforces a development
program that ensures that the employees gain the required knowledge such that
they can perform at a different higher position later.
Employee Maintenance
The human resource management ensures that all
the employees are in a state at which they can deliver effectively to the
company. The company must ensure that they provide their employees’ with health
insurance as well as maintaining a high level of safety at the workplace. The employees are also well motivated by
giving incentives and other rewards for exemplary work.
Role of human resource
management in strategic plan
The role of the human resource management should be
to plan accordingly to achieve the medium to long term targets of the company,
by focusing on the right employees. It achieves this by hiring the correct
people who are fit for the job positions, developing the careers of the
employee with the target of occupying crucial positions in the company. It
performs training to get the right mix of skills and ensure that employees get
treated well to make then have the desires to help achieve the targets (John, 2011) .
